Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the outstanding group therapy programs that began in 2019 were temporarily canceled.

But after careful consideration and planning, we are bringing back two programs for the summer. Group therapy is an important part of the NTSOC portfolio as it combines therapeutic rehabilitation goals in a fun, social setting. These group therapy classes are perfect for children and young adults experiencing therapy fatigue.

This summer, you can attend the Community Access Group or the Adaptive Summer Group.

COMMUNITY ACCESS GROUP

Tuesdays, June 1, 8, 15, 22, 29

Times: 5 – 6 p.m.

Deadline to enroll your child: April 26

Parents drive and pick up from locations

NTSOC established the community access group to provide your child the opportunity to interact, socialize, gain confidence, practice, and learn essential skills while participating in a fun and supportive environment within the community. To run groups, we need a solid commitment to the dates available for the services to be provided.

Some of the specific tasks that our clients will perform include:

• Emotional regulation

• Safety in the community

• Money management

• Confidence building

• Appropriate social interaction

• Relationship building

• Cognitive processing

Parents and caregivers need to provide transportation to and from each location. A sample schedule is listed below but may be subject to change.

• Rock Ledge Ranch

• Mini Golf

• Tasty Freeze Ice Cream

• Garden of the Gods

• John Venezia Splash Park

• Rocky Mountain Vibes game

ADAPTIVE SUMMER GAMES GROUP

Times: 5 – 6 p.m.

The deadline to enroll your child: May 24

Sessions will occur outdoors at the NTSOC Clinic

NTSOC established the adaptive summer games group to provide your child the opportunity to interact, socialize, gain confidence, practice, and learn essential skills while participating in a fun and supportive environment within the community. To run groups, we need a solid commitment to the dates available for the services to be provided.

Summer game night is an organic socialization experience in a safe, supportive environment. Therapists will adapt traditional “summer camp” games to promote:

• Emotional regulation

• Confidence building

• Appropriate social interaction

• Relationship building

• Cognitive sequencing

Activities to include:

• Capture the flag

• Water balloons

• Relay races

• Talent show

• S’mores

If the group session is canceled for any reason, an alternate date of 8/12 will be offered.

To protect all children’s safety in group therapy, NTSOC has planned all outdoor activities. Also, we will take temperatures and provide COVID-19 screening questionnaires will be at each session.
