Speech Therapist (ST)

The Position

Provides diagnostic and therapeutic services and appropriate referrals as necessary to all clients exhibiting a speech, language, hearing or swallowing disorder.  This position serves clients infants, children, and adolescents.

Essential Functions

  • Provides direct patient care, evaluates functional needs and outcomes, consults with other professionals as necessary, reassesses patient status and adjusts care plan as needed to ensure an optimal outcome.
  • Designs and implements a plan of care based on an evaluation of patient status.
  • Conducts provision of therapy within accepted standards of care and in accordance with state speech therapy laws.
  • Provides speech therapy in outpatient clinic, and home care setting as assigned.
  • Communicates effectively with clients, relatives, professional and support staff to achieve desired patient outcomes.
  • Adheres to established agency policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Maintains current and accurate records of properly signed prescriptions, patient evaluations, treatments, goals and plan of care.  Ensures conformity to regulations and requirements of third-party payers.
  • Performs patient care visits in accordance with Agency productivity requirements.
  • Enhances professional growth and development of self and the department staff through presentations and participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Provides direction and leadership to students, and staff when called upon.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

One year speech therapy experience preferred in-home care setting. Ability to relate to clients of all ages.

Required Certification/License:

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association and License to practice in the State of Colorado.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Current auto liability insurance in accordance with Agency policy.
