Home Health Aide/Certified Nurse Aide

The Position

Responsible for providing care to assigned clients in the home environment.

Essential Functions

  • Provides direct care to selected patients as assigned and demonstrated by the professional staff.
  • Performs personal care activities, i.e. bathing, combing hair, oral hygiene, dressing, etc.
  • Provides care in accordance with written instructions from professional staff.
  • Implements the patient’s plan of care in compliance with Agency and governmental regulations.
  • Provides simple exercises, transfers, and assists with therapy programs when instructed
  • Reports immediately to supervisor or professional staff any changes in the patient’s condition or any problems in assigned tasks.
  • Provides emotional support to patients and families.
  • Encourages socialization during the visit.
  • Relays observations of patient’s mental and physical status to professional staff.
  • Completes household duties, which relate to patient comfort and safety.
  • Maintains patient’s immediate environment in a tidy fashion.
  • Prepares meals including special diets.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

High school diploma or GED certificate.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

1-year experience working as a CNA; ideally in the home care setting.  Strong communication skills.

Required Certification/License:

Colorado CNA certificate in good standing (DORA).

Physical/Mental Demands

Clear and concise oral and written communication.  Ability to personally relate to clients. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
